Welcome back AJAXWorkspace. It has been almost 4 months time AJAXWorkspace didn’t post update to this blog. Please do not get us wrong we are stop our development and research work. Instead, we are engaged during this period to push and improve our product with more comprehensive feature. We never stop our thinking and passionate, and always strive hard to allow you to enjoy the most complete online collaboration and project management service from us.
Just a quick recap what are the most important feature has been accomplished by us during these 4 months back?
- Task planning – Task planning allows user to view the current project task status. It lists down each task by project milestone, task status, responsible owner and the availability for each resource. Task planning can be viewed by monthly basis or bi-yearly basis. AJAXWorkspace deeply believe this planning overview functionality can help our users in certain level to manage their daily task more efficiently.
- Document versioning – As promised by AJAXWorkspace, we always listen and response to our world wide user. This functionality already brought to you by AJAXWorkspace, which provide user with more flexibility to management their online document.
- Document ownership – Document creator can assign the document ownership to either other individual project member or project members. This allows other users to share the same document right and do any necessary amendment if found out the document posted not correct.
AJAXWorkspace already came out a fully development plan in 2009, and yet we are not lack of innovative ideal to proceed further. Let’s stay tune, we promise will let you see why we can make the difference.

Recently, we are busy developing, testing and enhancing the security features which we mentioned in my last post. The release date was delay because we hope to minimize the bugs as much as possible.
Meanwhile, we also added new “who’s online” feature which allow user to view who are the members that currently online. The first big thing that we are working on is revamping our existing public website in to a more informative portal. The new portal will allow user to direct access to Corporate Workspace and Individual Workspace via single login screen. User can find out quickly what ajaxworkspace is and how it can help them in their daily work. We had also consolidated previous FAQ’s question in to a new section called “Knowledge Base”. A new support ticket system also implements to support existing user if they can’t get any help from our knowledge base. 3 types of solutions were introduced to fit everyone’s needs. Meanwhile, we are targeting to launch our paid services in June to full fill our user’s requests. The free package will still exist and free to all users. However, paid services will allow user to have more space storage and user accounts in their workspace. We will release the more details plan in the future.

We received some feedback from users regarding security features in ajaxworkspace. We implemented simple security sicne day one AjaxWorkspace launched. This means that only workspace owner or project owner got extra rights to perform certain action like add/remove members and change prokect settings. They are no security features apply to documents, task, events and file. This means that everyone can access the project will able to access all their content. Now, users are asking more. Yes, they need to have security control over each item in documents, tasks, event, etc.
After reviewing and proper planning, we decided to add the security features! We are now doing SIT withing our team. Hoepfully, it will be release by end of this month or latest ealry april. Stay tune!

Our current implementation plan includes building an online collaboration workspace, called AjaxWorkspace. It is a virtual office where user can work, communicate and collaborate with their teammates to complete a task in a centralize location. Users do not need to be physically together in order to accomplish a task. It offers a bunch of collaboration tools to help users to collaborate with each other in a secured online workspace.

With reference to my previous post, “Why Collaboration is Important?”, we believe many small and mid-size companies, organizations and individuals are not aware of the benefits of online collaboration tool. Apart from this, they too are having difficulties to own enterprise collaboration software which needs high maintenance cost and expertise. Hence, a powerful yet affordable online collaboration service is the best solution to fit in their needs. Our idea is to create an online collaboration workspace which enables everyone to communicate, share information, create tasks and keep track of all the tasks’ status.
Here are our main objectives:
- To provide centralize information storage where everyone can have accessed to it at anytime around the clock and anywhere around the world.
- To improve collaboration as to avoid any information leaks and misunderstanding occurs among project team members.

In this modern era, many organizations, companies and individuals have yet to own their private collaboration space or portal to store their information in order to ease them in managing daily business activities, completing projects and organizing events. They will still depend on the traditional methods which are either via email or local file server to communicate and exchange documents.
They will have then faced the difficulties of managing the project, checking status and keeping track the progress. In addition, management personnel too will face the difficulties of knowing the inside out of the entire project. They do not have the full picture of the resource utilization and how is the progress of the project. Information seems to be invisible and appears everywhere (in mail, file server or local machine). This will result in a poor project management, high operation cost and poor resource allocation risk. If things go worst, the particular project might end up as a failure.

Task management play an important role in a collaboration tool. Hence, we have enhance the task management to support task template. This will allow user to create hundres type of task such as support ticket, leave application task and claim task. In version 1.1.0, we also includes some enhancement on search panel, task state/status and user group in task management. We implemented SSL security to Corporate AJAXWorkspace in order to ensure user’s data are securely transfer between AJAXWorkspace and user’s computer. These provide maximum protection to your confidential data. We will implement same security in personal workspace soon.
